Janet Ellison Biography Growing up in Maple Ridge, I’d always had a strong interest in creating art. From drawing with charcoal, to oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels and collage, I continue to enjoy learning new ways to communicate the beauty I see around me. I’ve always been drawn to details – capturing a moment in time. Many times its a still life with interesting light and shadows which have a serene feeling. I have now lived in Mission for 5 years and belong to the Mission Artists Association. About the donated art: This pastel still life I’ve called “San Juan Capistrano Still Life”, because I saw this cactus and a kettle while touring the Mission there. I liked the contrast between the metal and the terracotta planter.
