Gerhard von Rosen

Gerhard von Rosen, photographer residing in Mission for 40 years, started out as a consulting geologist, raising with his wife Xenia, a family of four children. His passion of photography became evident when at the tender age of six he was given a Kodak brownie box camera. Several family photos of that era still exist to this day. It was an expensive hobby at that time, and so it remains today.

Modernity and technical advances bring us in to the digital age; out of the realm our beautiful 'Chromes exhibiting exciting colour depth and feeling, into the realm of inexpensive photo acquisition (excluding the initial monumental initial outlays) and image manipulation available through the wizardry of the computer world.

Not un-like the magic experienced during the wet photo dark room routines with the camera club at Oliver High School in the late 1950's, Gerhard in addition to spending fulfilling days on location photo shoots in the community, stays glued to the computer screen for uncountable hours "PhotoShopping" precious images. Vintage fashion photography fills the GaiaPix website.

The image, once perfected on the small computer, then is transferred to the large-platform printer at AMG Media Works (Ernest von Rosen, our son), whose expertise I am thankful.
