Title

Doris J. Paterson

I was born in England in 1924 and have lived in Ireland, Hong Kong and across England and Canada.

I wrote an autobiography called “You do it whichever way you can.” because my training was snatched whenever and wherever I could take it between moving every two years and having ten children.

I’ve had private courses and night courses at Universities and as the children became older, I attended The Forum School of Art in Winnipeg one day a week together with night courses in Symposium of Art. Then in Nanaimo I signed up for in depth courses in various mediums. Carole Barnes in a week workshop steered me into acrylics and also to know the difference between decoration and true art.

My list of solo shows is long and covers the years from 1981 to 2008. My latest solo show was at the Maple Ridge Art Gallery in 2008.

Group shows began in 1962 and have continued steadily through to 2008.

I currently live in Mission B.C.with my second husband, Willy, who becomes a wonderful character in my book.
