Carolyn Dawn Good

Biography Carolyn Dawn Good has been living and working in Mission, BC. Canada for the last five years. She been in the art business for 20 yrs, marketing internationally after graduating from the University of the Arts with a BFA in 1988. You may know her work from the paper bead wearable art line www.thebeadrollson.com, digital illustration, graphic art ( schuh boutik, WRCFV), a shamanic art doll line called THE KRAGGLEYS and several public reverse glass murals in Maple Ridge BC.( Mark’s Work Wearhouse).

Her artwork is about bringing many worlds together on one surface---the visible, the unseen and the inbetween. She has a BFA from the University of Art in Philadelphia.

“Art for Social Change” is her focus. Recently she has been working on a community art project called THIS DIAMOND COMMUNITY. www.diamondcommunity.ca. This is a design and process that brings individuals to more community connection. It is living out Mission’s social plan in action! No matter what her role as mother, community worker, children’s workshop leader, sculptor or painter, the extensive and fluid capabilities and her particular “voice” transfer through all the roles. The main theme is “Trust in Yourself and the Process”. See online creativity classes www.oktobus.ca

Currently she and a team of enthusiastic and positive art professionals are venturing to bring the Diamond Model (a creative lens to view an organization and a process to follow) and Oktopus Project into the Mission Arts Council. The healing journey of themselves and how that is reflected by community healing is the investigation. They are partnering with the Arts Council to become a hub and a voice for all the ARTS. By inspiring people who want to explore their own creative ventures to create a prosperous, happy community, marketing their art and ideas together world wide. From children to street people, broken residential school veterans to CEO’s the labels are dropped and people relate to one another as valuable Voices of One co-creating an inclusive, connected world.

Artist Statement:
I have always challenged the concept that Art was about making a product. My heros in art are Jonathan Borofksy, John Cage, Laurie Anderson, Angus Martin and Arthur Dove. More than the making of a product, the artist is the observer and the one to can see patterns in the observed world that magnify one’s own internal frame of reference. In my experience,to a large extent, the world I experience is created out of my own beliefs. My work explores this inner/outer connection. The piece I submitted for the Silent Auction is an illustration made after reading Shelley Haggard’s poem. In some ways the future is like the rain storm coming, the turbulence will soon pass. The times ahead will be easier to face if we all join hand in hand and support one another and see each other as voices of one grand design.
